Ripple: Lake Norman Survivors Leave Calmer, More Present and More Connected

On October 24, 2026, Lee Lee's Life Lessons collaborated with Carolina Breast Friends to present Ripple: A Day for Lake Norman Survivors and Thrivers. The day was built on Let Us Play™: The EPIC Joy Reset, giving women affected by breast cancer a full day to express what they're carrying, rest, play, and reconnect.

Each woman began by "checking the water": she rated how she felt and how strongly each of five pillars was true in her life: Joy, Presence, Belonging, Creativity and Rest. At the end of the day, she answered the same questions again.

What changed in one day

Nine of our fifteen attendees completed both the before and after evaluations. Here is what they told us:

  • 8 of 9 women felt calmer by the end of the day. On our Stormy-to-Still scale, the group average went from 2.4 to 4.0. Most arrived feeling stormy, choppy or rippling, and most left feeling calm or still and clear.

  • Presence rose 38% (3.2 → 4.4 out of 5), the biggest gain of the day.

  • Creativity rose 36% (3.1 → 4.2).

  • Rest rose 25% (3.6 → 4.4).

  • Every part of the day scored 4.6 or higher out of 5. Tea and plant healing and our "Whose ripple touched yours" belonging activity both earned a perfect 5.0.

  • 100% would recommend the day to another survivor or thriver.

In their words

"I thought this was amazing & so helpful with healing."

"To remember how far I have come."

"Ripple effect: knowing we all are always creating a ripple. How do I want my ripple to be portrayed?"

"Take time for myself & allow peace and healing."

A win for everyone

For survivors and thrivers: Women left with practices they can use at home. More than half had never tried Qigong before, and they rated it 4.8 out of 5. They named specific intentions to carry forward, such as starting an herb garden, speaking kindly to themselves and seeking joy every day.

For our community partners: Ripple brought together local healing practitioners, so survivors met resources they can keep returning to.

For Lake Norman: Many women came looking for community with others who understand. Carolina Breast Friends is now building ongoing support for Lake Norman women, and Ripple was the first step.

With gratitude

Ripple was possible because of partners who share our belief in whole-person healing:

  • Carolina Breast Friends, for opening the door to the Lake Norman community and for their commitment to ongoing local support.

  • Sandi Wilson, Buzzy Blossom Garden, for tea and plant healing that earned a perfect 5.0 from participants.

  • Julia Schmidt, for Qigong and water meditation that helped many women try mindful movement for the first time.

Help the ripple keep going

These results show what one day can do. Your support makes this possible. A gift to Lee Lee's Life Lessons helps bring days like Ripple to more survivors and thrivers who need a place to rest, play, and belong.
