Building Connection, Community, and Hope in WNC π
Saturday, I had the honor of representing Lee Lees Life Lessons at the WNC nonprofit yard sale event β and I left feeling deeply grateful for the incredible spirit of community that exists here in Western North Carolina.
First and foremost, I want to extend heartfelt thanks to the WNC Bridge Foundation for supporting nonprofit organizations across our region and for creating opportunities that bring people together in meaningful ways. Events like this are about far more than tables and fundraising. They are about connection, visibility, collaboration, and reminding one another that none of us are doing this work alone.
Throughout the day, survivors stopped by the booth and shared pieces of their stories with me. Every conversation reminded me why Let Us Playβ’ and Lee Leeβs Life Lessons continue to matter so deeply to me.
As a stage IV cancer survivor myself, there is something sacred about those moments when another survivor quietly says, βMe too.β
I also had the privilege of meeting fellow advocates, caregivers, nonprofit leaders, and individuals who are passionately working to improve the lives of cancer patients and survivors throughout WNC. It was inspiring to hear about the work being done across our community β from emotional support and navigation services to wellness initiatives, education, and advocacy efforts. The compassion in this region runs deep.
The day was also a reminder that healing and hope often grow through small interactions:
A conversation.
A shared story.
A smile.
A hug.
A reminder that someone understands.
Thank you to everyone who stopped by our booth, purchased a shirt, donated, shared encouragement, or simply took a moment to connect.
And thank you again to the WNC Bridge Foundation for believing in the power of community-centered nonprofits and for investing in organizations that are working to create meaningful impact across Western North Carolina.
Together, we continue to remind survivors:
You are seen.
You are supported.
And your story matters. π
